Mitra Sports Complex, March 12.

Robelyn Sordilla clinched the gold, while Maria Jane Favila secured silver, proving that Palawan runners are a force to be reckoned with. As their symbol on their shirt, like leopards—fast, agile, and determined—Sordilla and Favila raced with power and precision.

As the race started, the two girls wasted no time, their strides strong and precise. With each step, they gained momentum, moving swiftly like predators chasing their prey. Their focus was unshakable as the two girls attained their goal to win. The crowd cheered as they pushed forward, never slowing down. It was an intense battle from start to finish.

A Dream Come True for Sordilla

For Robelyn Sordilla, winning gold was a mix of excitement and nerves “Sobrang kinabahan ako nung una pag tunog pa lang ng go” She admitted. But despite her fears, she pushed through, proving her hard work in training paid off.

Sordilla’s journey was not easy. She once suffered an injury that nearly stopped her from competing. Even after winning in past competitions, she wasn’t selected for Palarong Pambansa events. However, she never lost hope. “Gusto ko talaga makapasok sa Palarong Pambansa,” she said with determination.

Her family, especially her sister Rea Sordilla an athlete also in Palarong Pambansa in year 2018, has been her biggest support system. She advises young athletes to believe in themselves. “Magtiwala lang sa sarili na kayanin,” she said, inspiring others to keep going despite challenges.

Favila’s First Big Race

Maria Jane Favila, who won the silver medal, was both excited and nervous before the race. “Kinakabahan ako, pero iniisip ko ang pamilya ko at mga kapatid,” she shared.

This was Favila’s first time competing at this level, and winning a medal was an unforgettable experience. “Masaya ako, wala naman akong inisip kundi gawin ang best ko,” she said.

Favila’s love for running started at a young age, and this win only fueled her passion. She hopes to continue improving and competing in future events.

With these wins, Palawan continues to prove its strength in athletics. Both Sordilla and Favila have shown that hard work, perseverance, and believing in oneself can lead to success. Their victories are not just for themselves but for their families, their schools, and their division.
